Our aim is to create a space to celebrate a mixed medium of arts & and design frames that highlight the beauty of your collections and fit perfectly into your display.
Nyack, New York, has a rich history of arts and culture dating back to the 19th century. In the late 1800s, Nyack became a popular destination for artists seeking inspiration and a picturesque landscape to paint. Many notable artists, including Edward Hopper, George Bellows, and Josephine Nivison Hopper, spent time in Nyack and the surrounding area.
In the early 20th century, the Nyack Art Colony was formed, which brought together a community of artists and intellectuals. The colony included painters, sculptors, writers, and musicians, who gathered to discuss their work and share ideas. The Nyack Art Colony was instrumental in establishing Nyack as an arts destination, and many of its members became well-known artists and writers.
During the 1930s, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) funded a number of public art projects in Nyack, including murals and sculptures. The WPA also provided support for local artists and musicians, helping to establish Nyack as a hub for the arts.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Nyack became a center for the counterculture movement, and many artists and musicians moved to the area. The Nyack School of Music was established in 1960, and the Nyack Village Theatre opened in 1972, providing a venue for live performances.
Today, Nyack is home to a vibrant arts community, with numerous galleries, theaters, and cultural institutions. The Edward Hopper House Art Center, located in the former home of Edward Hopper, hosts exhibitions and events showcasing the work of contemporary artists. The Nyack Art Collective is a group of local artists who organize exhibitions and events, while the Nyack Village Theatre continues to offer live performances. The Rockland Center for the Arts, located just outside of Nyack, is a non-profit organization that provides art education and exhibition opportunities for artists in the region.
Overall, the history of arts in Nyack is a testament to the community's dedication to creativity and cultural expression, and it continues to inspire and support artists today.
